Photo of the Day: Taft Point in Yosemite National Park

Sometimes, you just need a different perspective. Yosemite National Park, of course, is an excellent place to find one. Perched high above the valley, a lone hiker looks out from Taft Point. Far below is the hulking face of El Capitan, the iconic cliff that serves as a destination to rock climbers.

However Yosemite, like many other places, is increasingly coming under threat. Its famous trees are struggling, its glaciers are melting, and stronger and larger wildfires threaten what's left.

That's not to say all is lost: Appreciation is the first step towards conservation and many, many, people have discovered the beauty of the United States National Park System.
