For skiers and snowboarders, Austria is renowned as a cheaper, more laid back destination in the Alps. Unlike the slopes in France, for example, Austrian resorts typically feature more consolidated trails and modern lifts allowing visitors to maximize their time on the mountain.
Climate change, however, is impacting this region too. The last few seasons in the Alps have been drier, meaning snow has been slow to accumulate on the slopes. Unfortunately, some models predict even drier seasons to come.
