Katherine recently wrote a post about the challenges of raising a family in a 1200 square foot home which has attracted 70 comments so far screaming in upper case 1200 SQUARE FEET ISN'T SMALL! But in fact, that is half the size of the average new home built in the United States. She listed a lot of reasons why living in a smaller house is better, many of which were shown on an infographic submitted to us a few weeks ago.
We don't show a lot of infographics on TreeHugger; one of the greatest things about the internet is the link, and they don't have any, so checking out claims and sources is time consuming. I think they often convey a lot less information than you can get across in words in a lot less time and certainly less space. They often point to totally unrelated companies using it as linkbait. However, this one is put out by a company that actually sells useful stuff for small houses, a whole website devoted to compact appliances. So here it is; you can click on it to get an even larger version at the Compact Appliance site.
