Bike sharing services are ripping around the globe aiding mobility in big cities. But bike sharing doesn't always make it easy for the average tourist to get a bike. Now a new service wants to be the AirBNB of biking.
Colombia (where ciclovías originated) and some other cities, including Guadalajara, Mexico, give big-city citizens a weekly car-free break. Norteamericanos have more cities celebrating ciclovías, but with more infrequent events.
If every new bike-share has to reinvent the wheel, progress will be slow and we'll see many failures. But if they can benefit from the collective wisdom and experience of others, we're well on our way.
