The Instructables Green Design Contest has come to a close, and so too has the judging. It's time to announce winners, the top projects from an outstanding pool of entries that totaled 621 projects! These projects ranged from small crafts to household furniture to gadgets and renewable energy projects. Through a combination of Instructable user votes and votes by judges, the community came up with the winners.
Turns out, one of our favorite projects from the contest made it as the Grand Prize Winner: Reclaimed Wood Flat-Pack Picnic Table With Planter/Ice TroughFree professional wind turbine blade, which allows you to "build the prototype of a wind turbine blade with fiber glass, cardboard, software, tools and affordable or free materials."
There are also 10 first-place winners and 20 runner-up winners. These awesome projects include everything from a solar tracker in the internet cloud to a self-watering vertical garden, from a solar plane to a bike-powered generator to wind-activated garden lights to a cob playhouse. The ingenuity and brilliance of makers shines in the results of this contest.
