We love multifunction devices on TreeHugger, particularly when they are beautiful. Designboom shows the work of British designer Josh Renouf, who has combined a coffee maker with a clock radio. One might say so what? There are lots of coffee makers with clocks in them. This is very different.
The Barisieur is beside your bed, rather than in your kitchen. When the time comes, you are awakened by "the subtle movement of stainless steel ball bearings that boil the water through induction heating". The hot water is pushed up the tube by steam pressure and into a coffee cone mounted over the cup. Freecycle that Keurig or Nespresso; this is a no-waste device.
There's more; a little drawer for coffee and sugar, a container that holds a little milk so that you never have to get out of bed. I hope there is a stereo version with two cups in the works. More pictures at Designboom.
