As much as some of us may want to delay saying it, Christmas is around the corner, and trees, decorations and lights are starting to pop up everywhere. Those who buy presents (I haven't, for years) are probably even thinking of holiday (responsible) shopping.
Being a Grinch about this time of the year, I do little in terms of decorations; but I find the numerous flat pack alternatives the most palatable, especially when they are designy plywood trees, mini trees in the form of cards and cute paper or felt ornaments.
From Argentina comes a new addition to the list: a lovely one piece laser cut aluminium plaque that expands into a shiny silver tree. It was designed by José Manuel Rebert Alarcon and presented in the most recent edition of the Innovar fair.
A nice plus is that the object looks so sleek and simple that when flat it can be used as an underplate, or expanded half way it could be a fruit/bread basket or decoration.
The item is in prototype phase. For more info e-mail the designer.
