Constrained by a regulation insisting the TAG McLaren HQ in Woking, England, couldn't have a bigger footprint than the site's previous buildings, superstar architecture firm Foster and Partners (behind the Reichstag, the Swiss Re tower, and so much more) delivered a biomorphic kidney rather than a bland box. Archidose said it best: "Like Foster's other buildings, McLaren's headquarters is a sleek, well-detailed piece of architecture that is novel but also environmentally friendly." The lake hugged by the building (see extended post for photo) is used for cooling the entire complex, including the heat-generating wind tunnel housed within. Reed beds work to naturally filter the water. Via Archidose ::Foster and Partners [by KK]
