We have more good green news on the upcoming London Design Festival. The website Sponge, a network of young property and construction professionals who share an interest in sustainable development, will be hosting an open day focused on eco-design next Saturday, 16th September. ‘This free event showcases cutting-edge products and ideas from new UK designers who actively apply principles of environmental, social and economic sustainability through their work.’ Taking place at Trinity Buoy Wharf in East London, where Container City is situated, the day is co-ordinated and curated by Fourth Wall Creations and has been approved as an official Energy Day by the European Commission's Sustainable Energy Europe Campaign. There will be talks and presentations from the exhibitors themselves as well as experts in the creative industry and environmental technology. There will be guided tours of the buildings and the energy efficient technologies used on site. There will also be a Scrapstore creative workshop for children using recycled and reused materials. 10am-6pm at Trinity Buoy Wharf, 64 Orchard Place, London E14 0JW. Admission is free.
