The Festival of Ideas for New York City runs from May 4 to 8; it "is a major new collaborative initiative in New York involving scores of Downtown organizations working together to harness the power of the creative community to imagine the future city and explore ideas that will shape it."
As part of the event, the Architectural League of New York's Urban Omnibus has created a series of posters, with 50 Ideas for the New City. They are designed for New York but most have universal application. Some of them are illustrated with posters by New Orleans based design firm Civic Center

Each idea is a link to a story on the subject. Their 50 are provocative, and they invite reader submissions; I particularly liked Don's " REPLACE THE SUBWAYS WITH A CONVEYOR BELT."
