Last year we showed the designs for Brad Pitt's Make it Right houses for New Orleans, where he commissioned 13 of the world's top architects to design green, sustainable houses and is building 150 of them. Now they are are under construction.
Above is the Garden Prototype from Kieran Timberlake, "a flexible, integrated system designed to accommodate a range of customizable options from interior program to environmental systems to aesthetics. The proposed design anticipates a transition from stick-built construction in the first generation to local off-site fabricated subassemblies in later generations. "
Graft architects are interested in "crossing the boundaries between disciplines and "grafting" the creative potentials and methodologies of different realities. This is reflected in the firm's expansion into the fields of music, car design, art installations, academic projects and "eventings" as well as in the variety of locations throughout the globe." It looked better in the renderings than it does in reality, they should stick to "Eventings."
Concordia's design looks nothing like the renderings, but "was designed with a flexible and functional floor plan that weaves together indoor and outdoor spaces into a tapestry of uses and possible re-uses that will enhance the owners’ lives for years to come. The Cradle to Cradle concept was applied throughout as evidenced in the building orientation, the selection of materials, the management of energy and water, and the features provided to promote passive survivability in the event of another catastrophe." ::Concordia
