The ideas for solar power are endless, the results of the workshop "Sunny Memories" prove. Encouraged by the ongoing solar energy revolution, the EPFL+ECAL Lab along with three major design colleges asked students to experiment with dye-sensitized solar cells.
More than 80 students from the California College for the Arts in the U.S., the Royal College of Arts in the U.K., Ecole Cantonale d'Art de Lausanne in Switzerland, and Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Création Industrielle in France participated in the challenge, creating wildly inventive uses for these cells in gadgets, objects, and structures. Although all are prototypes, some are ready for production now; others could be built in three years; and some are just waiting for the right technology to come along.
