Isoude designer Katie Brierley brings her signature design aesthetic, which merges quality materials with feminine silhouettes, to her elegant, sustainably-made 2012 wedding collection. The made-to-order gowns are masterfully constructed by hand with rich materials like silk wool, satin face organza, and silk georgette and can be conveniently found online ($2,200 to $8,500).
“It is the female form to which I return again and again," Isoude designer Katie Brierley says. "I value purity in design, chic simplicity. I seek to elevate a woman’s style, versus the imposition of fashion onto a woman. There is a harmony between garment and wearer that I seek.”
Brierley adds stylish details, such as the crystal beading accent seen in The Alva gown ($8,500) and satin face organza yoke on The Jacqueline ($6,000).
It's important to note how elegant these gowns--and Brierley's designs in general--transform the wearer. In Newport this past summer, I visited Brierley in her boutique and tried on a short, black version of The Jacqueline--I'm pictured wearing it, here) and I fell in love with the rich texture of the silk wool fabric and the form fitting silhouette of its design, which compliments a smaller waist.
Though each gown is available online, some planning in advance is necessary if you want to don one of Brierley's numbers for a stroll down the aisle. Each gown is fitted to the bride and made by expert dress makers and the designer encourages one-on-one appointments at her boutique located in downtown Newport, Rhode Island.
