This will be the first in a little triptych of stories regarding ‘firsts’ in organic cotton clothing from the UK. We lead off with the announcement by the Telegraph newspaper that women’s fashion retailer, Dorothy Perkins, will introduce what they are calling the “O line’ in July of this year. Initially this will be just vests (singlets or tanks to us non-Brits) and T-shirts in a wide range of sizes 8 through 22. Prices will start at £10. Given that folk, like Patagonia, have now been offering a full line of organic apparel for ten years this hardly seems like news. But when you are known as the largest womenswear retailer in the UK, with over 580 stores across the nation, then the move does have significance. ::Dorothy Perkins, via ::The Telegraph.
