For those who only need smaller quantities of labels, it seems easy enough: among other things, you can use fabric scraps, EcoGlue, self-inking stamps or a typewriter. There’s even printable fabric that can be put through an ink-jet printer - it's amazing how creative you can get with a little square of fabric.
