Most of the time, he's heading down there to make a mug cake in the microwave. It takes less than 10 minutes from the time he steps into the kitchen to the time he sticks the first forkful of moist, warm chocolate cake in his mouth. Cakes aren't the only thing that can be whipped up quickly in the microwave. In fact, breakfast foods are well-suited to the microwave mug meal treatment. Here are some ideas: Omelet in a Microwave: Omelets are a great way to use up leftover bits of vegetables and proteins, and they can be cooked in the microwave in about five minutes. The added bonus is there's little cleanup to do when you're done. * * Five Breakfast Mugs: There are five breakfast-in-a-mug recipes in this video: Blueberry Pancake, Sweet Potato Hash, Peanut Butter and Jelly Oatmeal, Whole Wheat Raisin & Banana Muffin, and a Basic Omelet. * * * French Toast in a Mug: I'm not sure if this is quicker than doing French toast on the stove top, but if you don't have a stove and still want French toast, you have this option. * * * Mac & Cheese in a Mug: Mac & Cheese made as quickly as a box mix and with all ingredients that you're comfortable with. (And, no, a cat mug is not required.) * * * Sausage & Cheese Breakfast Sandwich: You're not going to be able to eat this sandwich with your hands. You'll need a knife and fork, but all the flavors of a breakfast sandwich are there. * * * Berrylicious Microwave Minute Muffin: The host of this cooking show would be too perky for me to deal with first thing in the morning, but this muffin made with oats instead of flour might be worth writing down.
