Histoire, which means "history" or "story" in French, has opened its virtual doors, WWD reports. Curated by creator Monica Tai, the online boutique is packed with socially and environmentally conscious home and lifestyle treasures from around the world.
Following the belief that "the most beautiful items around the world are those that respect people, their artisanal craft and the environment," Histoire explores the history of a product, including "the place from which it came, the hands that carefully crafted it and the purpose behind its creation," the press release states.

Histoire features clothing, jewelry and items for the home from designers, including bags by Lauren Bush's FEED Projects, fair trade jewelry from SURevolition, handmade dolls made from old cashmere sweaters by Jess Brown, and more. Histoire creator, Tai, tells WWD:
We look for designers who embody the Histoire lifestyle of sustainable luxury. All of our designers create exquisite products that are produced under fair labor conditions and that embrace our philosophies of social and environmental transformation.
The site is easy to navigate and visually appealing, and to bring their mission home, Histoire donates a portion of profits to the artisans and global communities that they work with.
