Coming to a chic, green event near you is a transportable spa experience, run by The Spa Suite, that uses natural massage products and encourages clients to adopt eco-friendly practices outside of the spa. While it might sound like a giant, blow-up bubble with a massage table that pops out in the middle of it, the Suite is actually a very clean, calming structure with wood finishes and natural-looking furniture.
In fact, all materials used in this pre-fab structure were chosen for their sustainability aspects and are all either reclaimed wood or FSC certified wood pieces. The lighting is all LED, and the plants are chosen for their ability to improve air quality, as well as provide an inviting experience for all guests. At just 8' X 16' X 9.5', there is plenty of room so you don't end up feeling like you're getting an MRI instead of a massage. In fact, the Spa Suite can just as easily be used for a prep room (complete with catering of local, seasonal fare), as a massage studio. Either way guests leave feeling transformed and calmed.
The indoor structure can be setup in a hotel lobby, conference room or even a parking lot. The spa is designed by CleanEarthDesign, who specializes in designing eco-boutiques. A similar "outdoor" spa structure is available, utilizing cotton fiber insulation and radiant flooring powered by solar panels.
Typically the space is reserved for 5-6 hours and you can choose from a variety of packages involving massages, facials, manicures, other holistic, relaxation treatments. In addition, you can customize your package to include the Cloud 9 package which is a 2.5 hour full-body treatment, including their warming amethyst bio mat, all natural skin-care products and other remedies designed to leave you feeling in your best health.
You can find the Spa Suite at the Toronto International Film Festival this year, or invite them to your next event. Who knows, maybe it'll even show up at the next Live Earth or Green Fest. Can't wait.
