The industrial designer who put green bunny ears on the XO Laptop, raised a flatpack stool origami-style, and conceptualized the sleek Herman Miller Leaf lamp now wants to get into your pants—or more accurately, his undies inside your pants. PACT, an online underwear brand developed in partnership with Yves Béhar and his San Francisco-based studio, fuseproject, makes its debut today. But the organic cotton skivvies are more than a way to dress your tush, they're also vehicles for social change. PACT underwear photo.jpg

For its launch, PACT is introducing three underwear collections for men and women, each featuring prints by Béhar that visually invoke the company's inaugural nonprofit partners: 826 National, ForestEthics and Oceana. PACT donates 10 percent of each sale to support these organizations.

Made in Turkey, with every step of the manufacturing process occurring within a 100-mile radius, each subsequent collection will pair internationally recognized artists and designers with organizations pushing for social and environmental change.

PACT's underwear is packaged in a reusable cloth bag made from scraps, then shipped to customers in bright green compostable shipping bags sans big cardboard boxes, plastic, or fillers.

"In building PACT, we re-thought everything about the way underwear is made and marketed," Béhar says. "We're not doing anything artificial or superficial, not with the body, not with the packaging and not with our partnerships. Our vision is to unite fashion and design with doing good in an authentic way, building a company that truly embodies 21st century needs, showing a new way for businesses to operate in the future."

Bottoms up.
