Our friends over at eco-fashion website Ecouterre.com are celebrating their launch with a party at Kaight NYC-- our Best of Green winner -- tomorrow night. Slip on some Terra Plana's and walk or ride--bike style, I hope--over to 83 Orchard Street for thirst-quenching organic cocktails and conversation on sustainable fashion. Click through for details. Collin recently wrote about Ecouterre's first day on the web, he quotes Jill Fehrenbacher, founder and editor in chief, below.
I got tired of grouchy greenies slamming me for fashion coverage on Inhabitat, as if what we wear on our bodies day in and day out is somehow less important than other types of design. I thought it was high time for fashionistas and hardcore environmentalists start talking together and thinking about the power of good design. I got tired of having to explain to skeptical fashionistas that there is more to 'eco-fashion' than organic T-shirts, while simultaneously trying to convince my grouchy environmentalist friends that they need to focus their eco attention on the clothes they wear on their back.
If you like what she says--and we do--stop by Kaight tomorrow night, Ecouterre and Inhabitat's team of editors and writers will be on hand to answer your questions--oh, and be sure to let them know you're coming--RSVP here.
