The eco-fashionable--and just plain fashionable--flocked to Skylight West in New York City on Wednesday night to hear the winners of the Lexus Hybrid Living and the Council of Fashion Designers of America's (CFDA) Eco Fashion Challenge--and the chance to see DJ sets by Fabrizio Moretti, the drummer of The Strokes.
The platform to increase and support sustainable fashion practices in the fashion industry awarded $25,000 to three out of ten eco-fashion finalists. And the winners are--drum roll, please--ethical jewelry designer Monique Péan, AirDye pioneers Costello Tagliapietra, and Michelle Obama-approved Maria Cornejo.

A panel of judges selected the winners based on "design credibility, business acumen, and eco-commitment, with attention paid to eco fabrics, materials, processes and packaging," according to the Lexus press release. Lexus awarded a $25,000 check to each winner that will go toward their Fall 2011 show or presentation in February 2011.

The winners, however, were not the only focus of the night; the ten finalists and CFDA members--including Alabama Chanin, Behnaz Sarafpour, Libertine by Johnson Hartig, Marcia Patmos, Organic by John Patrick, Slow and Steady Wins the Race by Mary Ping, and Subversive Jewelry by Justin Giunta--presented their work at the event which drew hundreds of attendees.
