The Environmental Working Group (EWG) advises us to stay clear of triclosan, triclocarbon, and fragrance, when choosing bar soap. One of the reasons we jumped at the chance to try complimentary samples of John Masters Organics trio of organic soaps: they leave toxic chemicals where they belong--in a lab! We're already fans of John Masters eponymous haircare line--which has scooped up our Best of Green Award two years in a row--see how their soaps fare, after the jump: Comprising certified-organic ingredients such as palm and coconut oils, each bar offers it's own luscious scent and function. The trio includes an orange and ginseng exfoliating bar, infused with orange and lime peels; a lavender, rose geranium, and ylang ylang soap, ideal for cleansing the face and body, and our favorite of the bunch: the birch and cedarwood cleansing and shaving bar--plus, they are all packaged in in 100% recycled paper printed with water-based inks.
John Masters shaving bar is a summer-essential, perfect for women and men looking for a daily shaving bar--plus, it functions as an all-over body cleanser. The organic olive oil, birch and cedar wood oils, helps to create a lather which assuages the task of shaving. It left my skin feeling soft, smooth, and--most importantly--closely shaven. Overall, I much prefer bars to shaving creams, which are usually in aerosol cans--and I often knick myself because I can't see my leg through the thick lather.
The soap bars weigh-in at 4.5 oz and are available online at John Masters and nationwide at Whole Foods Markets, for $8 (SRP).
