French organic skin, hair, and personal care brand Melvita is launching their online e-commerce store for the US tomorrow, November 4, 2009, and first state-side boutique at San Francisco Center, California in January 2010. The beauty brand--certified by Cosmebio and Ecocert--was created by beekeeper and biologist Bernard Chevilliat--that's a lot of bees--in 1983, click through for photos from their soon-to-be-launched store.

All products are 100% organic and are certified by Cosmebio and Ecocert. They are never tested on animals and do not include paraffin, silicone, PEG (polyethylene glycol), PPG (polypropylene glycol), thoxylated ingredients, parabens, phenoxyethanol, formaldehyde, chlorine, synthetic fragrances or colors, diethyl phthalate, or nitromusk.

French Beekeeper Launches Beauty Brand
Beekeeper and French Biologist Bernard Chevilliat founded Melvita in 1983 in Ardèche, France with the goal of developing products as close to nature as possible. Chevilliat speaks to his vision for the brand, below.
Faced with the combined assaults of industrial chemistry and parasites, the world of bees was already--in my eyes--a reminder of the world's increasing fragility; because a world without bees would be a world without flowers, fruit, and beauty. This was why I wanted to place 'nature at heart' of our approach and our ecological and humanistic concerns.
In 1991 the brand launched their first range of cosmetic products and has grown to include multiple categories; plant oils; shea butters; bath and shower; hair care; hygiene; body, hand, and foot care; supplements; from the bee hive, and children and men. In 2008 they were acquired by natural and organic skincare line L'Occitane and can now be found worldwide in 2,000 organic stores, 500 pharmacies, and 4 of their own boutiques.::Melvita
