You'd never think that a solar bag could look this good but when designers like Diane Von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Rogan, Loomstate, Vena Cava and more get into the mix, you're in for some gorgeous finds. For last month's ELLE green issue, the magazine teamed up with eight designers to create ELLE/Portable Light Project bags to go on sale on eBay starting July 5. Last month's green issue of ELLE included these terribly chic solar designer bags that will be auctioned off on eBay. Diane Von Furstenberg, Tommy Hilfiger, Rogan, Loomstate, Vena Cava, Zero + Maria Cornejo, Lutz & Patmos, and Joseph Muteti teamed up with Sheila Kennedy, an architect in Boston to design the solar bags. The bags use a technology that Kennedy herself invented called the Flexible Light and Power pack (FLAP) with a USB port, LED lights, rechargeable battery, and a flexible solar panel built right into your bag. When the FLAP pack is built into a bag, it can be used to charge your cell phone or used as a reading light

Kennedy has started a nonprofit to provide these FLAP packs (minus the attached designer bag) to the parts of the world that need them most. Places where a dependable power source isn't a reality. And eBay will be auctioning off the bags with all the profits going toward her nonprofit, Portable Light Project. The bags will be auctioned off starting July 5 at 4 pm through July 15 on eBay.
