Always misplacing your mobile? CuteCircuit makes it easy to catch calls on the go with their forthcoming M-dress (Mobile Phone Dress), which I read about in Ecouterre. The hip-hugging soft-circuitry cellphone dress has a built in antenna -- conveniently concealed in its hem -- and accepts a SIM card; like a modern-day spy, answer and make calls by lifting your wrist to your ear; hang up by dropping your arm. Not only does the hip-hugging little black dress turn the wearer into a cell phone but it makes a simple and elegant style statement. More: CuteCircuit, who made green fashion headlines when Katy Perry wore their LED dress at the annual Costume Institute Gala at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, tuned in to the lack of pockets in women's clothing when designing the M-Dress. From their website:
The M-Dress (Mobile Phone Dress) was designed after our research showed that very often phone calls are missed because mobile phones are quite awkward to carry, especially for women, that have garments with small or no pockets. To allow women to stay connected while remaining stylish, CuteCircuit designed the M- Dress. A mobile phone in its own right but built out of soft circuitry.
Personally, it feels liberating when I do not have to walk around with any bags or a purse; if I only need my cell phone and have no pockets I have to bring one with me. While this dress will not be available until 2011, it will give its wearer the freedom to go out-and-about sans extra baggage. The wearer simply inserts the SIM card in the small slot underneath the label and the dress is ready to accept calls from your regular phone number.
