Whenever I talk about carbon I start with this- the latest Sankey diagram or flow chart from the Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory and the Department of Energy, which I consider to be The Chart That Explains Everything.

Because you can talk forever about the amount of energy you might save by insulating your attic or getting a smart thermostat, but the single biggest source of carbon dioxide is from burning petroleum, with burning coal for electricity a close second.
