Brazil is in the spotlight this year, with the World Cup and then the 2016 Summer Olympics. But its design has been revolutionary since the 1950's. A show, Brazilian Design: Modern & Contemporary Furniture at London's Sala Brasil tells the story.
Much of the work was initiated by architects, like Oscar Niemeyer, to complement their buildings. His newly created capital city, Brasilia, brought Brazilian design to the world's attention in the 1950's.
