These graceful raptors were considered rare and endangered in North America as recently as the 1940s, thanks to egg-collecting and hunting – but in recent decades they have bounced back with greatly increased numbers. They have spread to new areas as well ... which is great for bird lovers and great for wildlife photographers! Case in point, this incredible photo by DeeDee Gollwitzer. If there is such a thing as a white-tailed kite whisperer, DeeDee gets the title.
