There are so many frogs on this planet, from plain Janes to bombshells to some truly curious oddities .... almost 5,000 species have been recorded in all. Falling toward the odd end of the frog spectrum is the wonderfully cute Pinocchio rainfrog (Pristimantis appendiculatus). Found only on the Pacific slopes of the Andes in Ecuador and Colombia, this particular Pinocchio was photographed by Andreas Kay at the Birdwatcher’s Lodge in Mindo.
