Photographer Don Quintana shot this sweet scene of an American coot (Fulica americana) feeding its chicks in Atascadero, California. Don writes:
Spring has sprung and nature is upon us in so many ways. Blooming wildflowers to nests full of little birds begging for food are welcome signs of the season. This American coot nest provided a few moments to observe the behavior of these little hatchlings as they went about the first few days of their lives. Now coots aren’t considered to be one of the finest birds to photograph and there certainly isn’t any shortage of them nor opportunities to capture their images, but who can pass up an opportunity to photograph these little red bald headed nestlings?!
