Photo: Belted Kingfisher waits on its perch

The Belted Kingfisher (Megaceryle alcyon) hunts mostly for small fish, according to The Cornell Lab of Ornithology. They spend much of their time perched at the water’s edge, waiting for prey. This Kingfisher was photographed at the St. Marks National Wildlife Refuge, in Florida.
