Franklin’s gulls (Leucophaeus pipixcan) are small gulls that breed in Canada and the Northern United States, and usually winter in Argentina, the Caribbean, Chile or Peru.

Donald Quintana photographed this one in Pismo Beach, California. “Not sure what this Franklin's gull is trying to say to me,” he writes. “But it kept squawking at all the Bonaparte’s gulls as well.”
