Moose (Alces alces) are the largest species in the deer family, weighing on average 790 pounds (360 kg) and requiring about 71 pounds (32 kg) of food per day. Sadly, their populations have been in decline since the 1990s throughout North America.

Rick Derevan photographed this pair in Nome, Alaska.
