This young California mule deer is too sweet. “We are fortunate to have a herd of deer in our neighborhood,” writes Rick Derevan, who took this photo. “And fawn season is extra special. So far I have seen three fawns, one single and a pair of twins. Sometimes the mother 'stashes' the fawn while the mother goes off to graze. In one picture in this series, the fawn is hiding in tall grass at the base of a hill. I watched it off and on for about an hour and it never moved while mom was elsewhere.”
