Martialis Heureka Ant

This pale, blind, ant—adapted to spend its whole life beneath the soil—seems to have more in common with a fictional extraterrestrial creature, and is commonly known as the "ant from Mars."

The discovery of Martialis heureka, was part of a larger survey of the Amazon.
