It's the 101st anniversary of the Chelsea Flower Show. Last year's centenary was filled with nostalgia, this year it's out with the old and in with the new. There are eight first-time designers at the show and several of them are under 30. For a show that lives on its history, this is a major turn-around.
The weather has been great and the flowers are showing the results. There is lots of purple: it's the big theme this year. Many of the gardens are informally planted, with natural woodland plantings. Much emphasis on the environment too.
