IIDEX is touted as " Canada’s largest National Design + Architecture Expo and Conference", and perhaps it is, but it certainly seemed a lot smaller than it used to be. It is to the trade only, and this is a trade in trouble. Offices are shrinking, budgets are tight and trade shows are costly. It showed; booths were smaller, and a lot of big names were absent. Where was Steelcase? Where was DIRTT?

Furthermore, the office is changing; more and more people are working from home, the traditional division between contract and residential is breaking down. Everyone, including the IIDEX people, are trying to figure out where it is going. The confusion shows.
