Brooklyn building shows that Passive Houses can have apartments too

The 255 Columbia Street building is a new construction, designed by the Brooklyn-based architect Loadingdock5. The building is seven stories with a total of 13 units, and the typical unit has 1,250 square feet.

The building uses two rooftop heat pumps and a heat recovery ventilator, and each apartment has a 2-ton air to air heat pump. There are also solar panels located on the roof.
