Adventures in Engineering: ARUP and the Metropol Parasol

Somehow TreeHugger missed the Metropol Parasol when it opened last summer. Jurgen Meyer H. won a competition in 2004 to redevelop Plaza de la Encarnacion in Seville in 2004 and it wowed the crowds when it was finally completed last year after a long and wild ride. (See Inhabitat's coverage)

Last week, Jan-Peter Koppitz of ARUP Engineering, and worked on the project, presented it at the Wood Solutions day in Toronto. It's a project where the engineering component is as spectacular as the architecture.
