This endangered Hawaiian monk seal was photographed at the Poipu Beach Park in Kauai. Donald Quintana writes:
“Despite all of the beach goers, this extremely endangered Hawaiian Monk Seal seemed to be quite content lying here on the beach. Could have been that it had its own private spot roped off and manned by a Hawaiian Monk Seal Response Team? Ether way, these guys need to be protected. There are only collectively about 1000 of these seals left in the Hawaiian island chain with about 150 individual seals in the main Hawaiian Islands.”
