June 16-22 is Pollinator Week
June 16-22, 2014 is Pollinator Week, an awareness campaign created by the nonprofit Pollinator Partnership and the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The week aims to raise awareness about the importance of pollinators, and the threats they face, from loss of habitat to negative effects from pesticides.
There’s an amazing diversity of bee species, and more species are still being discovered and identified. On the following slides, you’ll see the amazing colors and forms bees can be. The photos are from U.S. Geological Service’s Bee Inventory and Monitoring Lab.
