You can learn a lot from cartoons -- even when you don't know it -- and those lessons go beyond sharing and caring to imparting important information about pollution, deforestation, vegetarianism, and other environmental issues. But while some of them are obvious (like "Captain Planet"), others (like "The Simpsons" and "Winnie the Pooh") are more subtle.

"The Secret of NIMH"

In "The Secret of NIMH," animal testing turns the rats at NIMH laboratories into thinking, planning, reading rodents with intelligence that rivals that of some humans, allowing them to escape and avoid the exterminator. But while the tests have arguably negative effects on the rats, they also result in the death of all but two of the mice involved.
