Bisie mine, located deep in the rainforests of Walikale territory in North Kivu, DR Congo, is one of the largest sources of cassiterite (tin ore) in Congo. The New York Times has reports: "The exploitation of this mountain is emblematic of the failure to right this sprawling African nation after many years of tyranny and war, and of the deadly role the country's immense natural wealth has played in its misery."
