The World Wildlife Fund is using Google Earth to protect the Bukit Tigapuluh forest in Sumatra from logging operations that are increasingly clear-cutting vital habitat for the endangered Sumatran tiger, elephants, rhinos and orangutans. The organization created a virtual tour of the area to illustrate the threat to these animals and put pressure on the paper companies to stop the logging. The image above shows the protected national park in green, the red and orange areas are current and planned logging areas and the blue shows the tigers' range, which goes far outside the national park.
