Already, some 300 million school children don't have access to fresh water and sanitation services. Murder over water? Yes it happens, and while experts estimate 2.5 gallons per person per day is a sustainable amount to use, the average American consumes 100 gallons per day.
Here's 2009 in water, summed up by stunningly beautiful images, hair-raising new studies, and technologies that will conserve water and make it more fresh water as our supplies run low.
