From green schools to Live Earth, R&B/hip hop artist Akon has given his voice to green causes before. And through his charity, Akon Lighting Africa, he's been working since 2014 to bring clean, renewable energy to rural communities who would otherwise rely on kerosene lanterns.

He's not the only one.

Canadian recording artist Raghav has just release Until the Sun Comes Up in collaboration with Nelly, Bollywood superstar Abhishek Bachchan, and UK-based charity Solar Aid. The result was a song, a music video, a delivery of over 300 solar lights to kids in Tanzania, and thousands of people becoming more aware of the urgent need to bring renewables-based electricity to those who don't yet have it.

We already know that clean energy-based electrification strategies could bring universal energy 10 times cheaper, and twice as fast, as fossil fuel-based models. And Solar Aid alone has sold over 1,700,000 solar lights so far.

But there's still much work to be done. As both nelly and Abhishek emphasize in the video below, 1.3 billion people still live without electricity. It's time for everyone to step up and create a solar revolution.
