20 Clean Tech Pioneers to Watch: The British Invasion?

With electric vehicles taking over London, and record-setting wind energy installations in the US, it no longer looks like hyperbole when leading venture capitalists like John Doerr pronounce that "the field of green-tech is the largest economic opportunity of the twenty-first century." Perhaps that's why a group of 20 UK clean tech firms are headed to The States, seeking to attract the attention of Silicon Valley in their mission to mainstream green. The Clean & Cool 2010 trade mission features 20 of the strongest, most successful new clean tech companies in the UK, all of which are seeking to bring their products and services to the attention of a global audience.
Participants include Aquamarine's "Oyster" wave power generator (see Matthew's reporting on Aquamarine's plans for 1GW of wave power by 2020), EVO Electric's hybrid drive trains for transportation, and Passiv Energy's smart home energy management systems. It's good to see both public and private money going in to kick-start clean tech industries. With feed-in tariffs just launched in the UK, it finally looks like British clean tech may be getting the support it needs to compete on a global scale.
