Montu is an award-winning Bangladeshi freelance journalist. With more than 30 years of experience, he is a pioneer of coastal journalism. The entire coastal region of Bangladesh is his field of work—these coastal districts are constantly at risk due to climate change.
Montu's stories are published in various media outlets including Bangladesh's online news portal Risingbd, The Guardian (U.K.), Thomson Reuters Foundation News (U.K.), The ThirdPole (U.K.), Gaon Connection (India), and more.
He has worked at various leading dailies in Bangladesh throughout his career: Dainik Prothom Alo, Dainik Kaler Kantha, Dainik Samakal, Dainik Sangbad, Dainik Bhorer Kagoj, and Dainik Manabjamin.
Montu has received 20 national and international awards. He has received the Meena Award three times, the PIB-A2I Media Award twice, and the Monajatuddin Smriti Award, and the Canadian Excellence Journalism Award.
Montu authored two books: "Cyclone Sidr" and "Char Livelihoods and Human Rights."
