Why should you care about the ocean? For people who live right next to it, the answers may seem obvious -- because it's where we get our food, because it's nice to walk along the beach and not see plastic, because we love the animals that live in it that we can spot during our visits. But for those who live far inland and who never see the ocean, the answers may seem more vague. Why should we care about something we never see, whose waves don't lap up near our homes, and whose creatures we only glimpse on televisions or in photographs.
Dr. Sylvia Earle answers this question eloquently in the video above. The simple answer is, "If you like to breathe, you'll care about the ocean."
