Hey Canadian green fingers, environmental activist (and TreeHugger eco-hero) David Suzuki wants to find Canada's best pesticide-free lawns and gardens, plus your story, in 100 words or less, about how you made everything flourish sans chemicals.
Photos and stories will be posted on his Web site; judges will pick the finalists and site visitors will then vote for a winner. If you win, you get a prize package that includes a "David Suzuki Digs My Garden" T-shirt and a $30 gift certificate for heritage seeds from Saltspring Seeds.
You have until Sept. 14 to mail your photos or upload them to the David Suzuki Foundation Flickr photo group. The categories are:
• Luscious Lawns—Best lawns or lawn alternatives (i.e. xeriscaping)
• Voluminous Vegetables—Best food-producing gardens
• Outstanding Ornamentals—Best flower garden
• Balcony Bliss—Best limited-space garden
